The first nine of the North Course was built in the early 80’s and wends its way through a rather wooded part of the domain where concentration is required to keep the ball on the rather tight fairways. Not always an easy task as the players attention is easily deflected by the natural beauty of the flora & fauna in this area.
The second nine is more open and varied but with several lakes which will concentrate the mind. This nine was opened in 2006 and is also endowed with a sprinkling of fairway bunkers which are less in evidence on the first nine.
About half the holes have greens raised up above the surrounds, a factor to be taken into account with club selection as the course tends thus to play longer than its actual distance.
Originally laid out by Baron Paul Rolin, this course has been rerouted and amended by Hawtree’s Russell Talley in 2015. A renovation programme of the older holes is ongoing in consultation with and according to the Hawtree design.
