While many of the holes of the South Course were also built under the design of Paul Rolin in the early 80s, this course has seen the greater influence of the Hawtree principals.
Four of the holes were completely newly built in 2015 while several others have been significantly modified. A greater variety is now evident in this course, for example with par 4 distances varying from a reachable hole (for the top players) of 280m to a monster 420m which is difficult for most players to reach in regulation. Hole 3, a par 3 of only 126m, is remarkable for its level of difficulty given de array of pot bunkers which defend it.
Par on the South Course may be one less than its Northerly brother but the course rating is higher so that the two courses are considered equal in terms of importance.
